Key meeting with agent Jorge Mendes for Balde's future at Barcelona
Barça want to tie the left-back down to a new contract at Camp Nou
Jorge Mendes is planning to visit Barcelona in the coming days. He often does because of his great relationship with the club's directors and because of the players he manages at Barça.
From now on, any visit will be related to Ansu Fati, but the next meeting will be to finalise the renewal of Alejandro Balde, which has yet to be finalised. Balde's contract expires in 2024 and talks are moving towards an extension until 2027.
There is a good predisposition, but Balde is clear that his role now is that of a first-choice player and he aspires to a good contract. And his aim is to be on par with other renewals such as Gavi and Araujo, who are a small step behind Ansu and Pedri.
There is no agreement yet, but there will be, despite the fact that Balde himself has not yet assured his continuity in the only statements he made about his future -- which is part of the usual back-and-forth of a negotiation.
Balde wants to continue as much as Barça wants to renew him, so there will be an agreement. There is no rush because it will not be possible to register him until the summer, but everything will be signed. Mendes does not want him to leave the Catalan club either.
