The striker, who currently plays for Monaco, has praised the academy system at his former club FC Barcelona

Spanish-Senegalese striker Keita Baldé, who currently plays for Monaco, has fond memories of his time at FC Barcelona despite not leaving on the greatest of terms. In an interview with Italian journalist Gianluca di Marzio, Keita Balde praised the work which went into forming him as a footballer.

"Barcelona first develops you as a person and then later as a player," confirms Keita. "It isn't a question of luck that so many good players have come from there. It means they are doing something right. I've seen players like Icardi, Delofeu, Bartra, Sergi Roberto, Gio Dos Santos and Bellerin. They just keep coming."

The forward is currently in lockdown, like the majority of the world, and continues to work hard in order to maintain his fitness. However he isn't an easy situation for Keita Balde as his family and loved ones are in different countries.

"Some of my family are in Spain, others in Senegal. I'm in Montecarlo with my wife and son. Everybody is following the rules and regulations here. I've heard about the complicated situations in Italy and Spain and I hope that it can be resolved as soon as possible so we can return to normal."
