The French defender wants to leave Sevilla and Chelsea have not come in for him

Although it’s not official yet, Barcelona are signing Andreas Christensen from Chelsea for free. But Xavi wants more in defence and Jules Kounde is the target he has asked Mateu Alemany and Jordi Cruyff for.

That’s what they are working on. Kounde will leave Sevilla this summer. Monchi shut the door on him going last year but now he can depart. It was likely he would sign for Chelsea, agreeing a contract with them last summer, and the Blues can still get him if they come back in.

However their interest in him has frozen over a littl, with Thomas Tuchel interested in Matthijs de Ligt at Juventus.

That leaves Barcelona as Kounde’s best option, and they have spoken to him and Sevilla. They know he would like to come, but also that Monchi will not be easy to negotiate with.

Barcelona wanted to include players but Sevilla need money so they can make their own signings. There is also the option of a loan with an obligatory buy clause, but that proposal is not liked by Sevilla either, who want 65m euros for him. With the levers pulled and cash arriving at Barcelona, they will make a new bid, but not that much.
