The banged up former Barca chief is accused of corruption stemming from BarcaGate scandal

Former Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu will spend the night in the police cells after being arrested on Monday morning as part of the investigation into BarcaGate.

The chief has chosen not to speak with police. Jaume Masferrer is also expected to be kept overnight.

Head of legal Roma Gomez Punti has been let go for now, while CEO Oscar Grau is also poised to leave.

Bartomeu resigned in October 2020 with the team in sporting, financial and institutional crisis. He faced a vote of no confidence and jumped before he was pushed.

BarcaGate played a big part, an incident in which the club hired a company to publish content attacking those who opposed him, including some current players.
