Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu spoke at the start of Luis Suarez's goodbye press conference, marking the end of six years at the club for the striker.
"In the name of all Barca fans, many thanks for these six years," the president told the player, who said goodbye in tears.
"I hope the future continues as well as it has (for you) up to now.
"Be happy. Barca will always be your home. The day that you decide to leave football, I hope that we can have a match in homage and a goodbye with all the fans, when this pandemic is over."
Bartomeu hailed the "charisma and human dimension" of a player "who forms part of Barca's legend, with 13 titles and 198 goals."
He added that when Barca signed him in 2014, "we never had doubts that you were the player we needed."
