Jorge Messi talks about life with Lionel Messi & criticism in Argentina

Lionel Messi's father, Jorge, has explained the relationship he has with his son. In an interview with 'Diez Mas', Jorge said that Messi the best player in the world was created "in a family like any other in Argentina" and added that his communication with the crack "is normal." He underlined that they have always been "united" and said that he transmitted values of "sacrifice and respect" to a young Messi.

"We have a normal relationship because, privately, the role of a dad is the same in any family. Lionel was born and raised in a family like any other in Argentina, where he achieved everything through sacrifice and respect. Our culture, in our country, is like that: everything is achieved through sacrifice and that forges values," Jorge said.

UNITED DESPITE AGE DIFFERENCE

With regards to his relationship with the FC Barcelona forward, he said that they "have always been really united, despite the age gap. As for Leo, because he was the youngest [child], he was always protected by his elder siblings."

JOURNEY TO BARCELONA AT 13

On Messi's move to Barcelona as a teenager, as a solution to growth problems, Jorge commented that it "was hard, but everything is to do with what I said before: we are a family that has achieved things through sacrifice, which does not mean that we were forced to do it. It was a life choice."

NEVER NAUGHTY

Jorge revealed in the interview that Leo "was never up to any serious mischief, because he was always a good kid. The odd thing, yes, but nothing difficult."

LOVE FOR THIAGO

He also spoke about how Messi has naturally adapted to life with his son, Thiago, saying that it "has not been necessary to advise him. He knows what he's doing. The love he has for his son is a natural guide."

ARGENTINA NATIONAL TEAM

Messi has not turned his success with Barcelona into success with Argentina. Jorge hit out against the critics in Argentina, though, saying "many only understand failures and that forces them to see their own failings in others. Unfortunately, we live in a world of show and harsh criticism sells better than constructive criticism."

FOCUSED ON FOOTBALL

Jorge was very clear about the fact that Leo is only concerned about football, his passion. "He plays football and doesn't worry about the rest." As for the problems off the pitch, Jorge said they are his problems, not his son's.
