Cruyff returned in an advisory role and later as the director of international scouting

Jordi Cruyff will be named as FC Barcelona's technical secretary ahead of the 2022-23 season to complete the club's executive setup off the pitch. Cruyff will play an important part in planning the club's future, alongside general manager Mateu Alemany and first team coach Xavi Hernandez.

President Joan Laporta and the Barça board are happy with the work Cruyff is currently doing in his first year back at Barça. He returned in an advisory role and later as the director of international scouting.

The fruits of Cruyff's work can be seen in the incomings and outgoings in recent months, especially in the January transfer window, with the arrivals of Dani Alves, Ferran Torres, Adama Traore and, at the last minute, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, as well as in the renewals or talks to renew with Ansu Fati, Pedri, Nico, Gavi and Araujo.

Barça feel that the trident of Cruyff, Alemany and Xavi complement each other perfectly, while there is a fourth figure gaining weight at the club: former player Deco. However, Deco will be operating the South American market, primarily Brazil.
