The sporting director is stepping away from Barca at the end of the season

Jordi Cruyff, the sporting director of Barcelona, acknowledged that he had been thinking about his decision to leave the Catalan giants at the end of the current season for months.

Speaking to Barça TV after the league match against Real Sociedad (1-2) in which the first team celebrated the league title, Cruyff expressed his gratitude for the confidence shown by the club over the last two years.

"I am very grateful to the board of directors and delighted with the work I have done alongside Mateu Alemany (director of football), with whom it is true that we have had a hard time at times, but always with a smile," he said.

He also highlighted the relationship he has forged with Barcelona coach Xavi Hernández. "It has been one of the most beautiful things and I'm very grateful to him," he said of his professional relationship with the coach.
