Jordi Cruyff, in Amsterdam to work on Mazraoui signing
The Ajax defender can leave in the summer at the end of his deal in the Netherlands
Jordi Cruyff, Barcelona’s sporting assessor, is in Amsterdam to get the signing of Noussair Mazraoui on track. Cruyff will be watching the game between Ajax and Benfica in the Champions League at the stadium named after his father,
He is trying to seal a few things related to the deal that is expected to be signed with Mazraoui.
His potential arrival would end the debate over that spot that has taken place since 2016, when Dani Alves left.
He would follow Andreas Christensen and Franck Kessie in.
Mazraoui likes the idea of playing at Camp Nou and has turned down better economic offers to do so.The key was the system of play that he would be in.
Like the other signings he arrives for free at the end of his deal and he can be used in other positions, including defensive midfield. He’s worth 20m euros on the market.
It would also leave Sergino Dest in a difficult position and Barcelona might look to sell him, recovering the 21m euros they spent on him in 2020.
