Jordi Cruyff: I have had no contact with Barca yet

The son of legend Johan is earmarked by Laporta for the new Barca project

It’s not been made public but new Barcelona president Joan Laporta is very sure of two people he wants to help lead the club. One is Mateu Alemany, who would take the director of football role. The other is Jordi Cruyff, who would lead the sporting director department.

In his first hours as president Laporta has not confirmed anything explicitly. “Out of respect I first have to speak to the actual staff at the club,” said the new chief. “I have no commitments with anybody. When we find out about all this, we’ll take decisions.”

It’s no secret that he has a fine relationship with the son of Johan Cruyff. “I suppose he and Xavi have congratulated me, I’ve had many messages,” said Laporta.

Once he is officially appointed (La Liga must confirm it) then he will give a press conference as the new president at the Auditori 1899. It will be then that he starts to name names.

“For now I’ve had no contact with Barca and any thing that happens must be with the approval of the Shenzhen Kaissa Group,” said Cruyff, referring to his coaching role at the club in the Chinese Super League.
