Jordi Cruyff a little less emphatic than before on Frenkie de Jong future

The Dutch midfielder has been linked with various other clubs and could be sold if the price is right

Jordi Cruyff spoke at the inauguration of the Cruyff Court Constanti about FC Barcelona. The advisor to Joan Laporta and future sporting director of Barcelona recently said that Frenkie de Jong would stay at Barcelona. However he was not as certain this time.

He said that Frenkie “is a player highly valued at the club and in the football world” but also added: “It’s not the time to talk about these type of things. Ahead of the future of each of us is the obligation to compete the objectives for this season.” 

He was pleased that Ronald Araujo has penned a new deal.

“In the coming weeks we will work on the continuity of the players we count on,” he aded, referring to Gavi and Ousmane Dembele.

“We will try to have the same success. We will see if we can do it.”

For next season he said: “We’re more focused on the squad as a whole than individual players.”
