Jordi Alba wrapped in cotton wool after sacrificing himself in Clasico

The left-back played at the weekend after returning from injury earlier than expected

Jordi Alba ended the Clasico exhausted and really affected by the loss. He gave everything to play in the game and he hoped to help tip the title towards Barcelona.

Alba even defied logic to feature, returning two weeks after injuring his adductor muscle against Getafe when he was expected to be out for at least three weeks.

He took on the risk because he understood the team needed him in a big game. He felt good in the run-up to the match, too, and the medical team gave him the green light to take part. There was no fear of a relapse.

In the game, the sensation were good, especially in the first half. He set up a great chance for Antoine Griezmann and linked well with Lionel Messi.

He began to notice the effects of not playing for two weeks in the second half but managed to end the 90 minutes, albeit he was knackered.

Now, Alba will spend the week in cotton wool, boosted by the fact there is no midweek game. His presence on Saturday vs. Real Sociedad will depend on how he feels later in the week. He will not force it, but if he feels good he could play.

With the Clasico out the way, the main goal now is to be 100 percent for Napoli in the Champions League. The second leg will be played at Camp Nou on March 18 after a 1-1 draw in Italy.
