The left-back made it clear he's hoping for his contract to be extended

Jordi Alba took advantage of not being called up by Spain to disconnect for a few days in Seville. While there, the left-back spoke to Televisión Española about Luis Enrique's decision not call him up and his situation at Barcelona.

"My intention is to stay at Barcelona for my whole life, I hope I can retire at Barça," the defender said about his desire to renew his contract (it expires in 2020), something which should be dealt with in the coming months.

Alba didn't want to complain too much about Luis Enrique's snub: "These are decisions managers have to make and whether you like [the decision] or not, you have to accept it. I will try to give my best for my club and for the national team, if I am called up."

On his current form, he added: "I have improved a lot as I have got older. I am in a good moment in my life, but also on the pitch, where I have matured as a player. It's not easy to play for Barça..."

Finally, Alba explained that he has less injuries because of prevention work and a change to his diet: "In 2014, I started to get injuries and I visited the club's dietitian. He gave me some advice and it's worked out really well."
