Cancelo is no longer useful at Man City and is not happy at Bayern

Barça are looking for a right-back for next season, as president Joan Laporta admitted in his appearance at the Círculo Equestre, and the options the club has been working with are Manchester United's Diego Dalot or Villareal's Juan Foyth.

They are two players who have been on Xavi Hernandez's radar for a long time and who he likes according to his technical needs. The problem with both players is that they have a contract in vigor, an issue for Barcelona. Laporta is willing to make an effort, but in the last few hours a new possibility has appeared that is just as attractive, if not more so.

It is Joao Cancelo, a player owned by Manchester City who arrived at Bayern Munich on loan this winter. The Portuguese arrived in Germany through the front door, starting the first game without having hardly trained. However, the love story was soon over as, for example, in Wednesday night's game against PSG, Cancelo did not start. He was on the bench. Cancelo started the first five games for Bayern but has now disappeared from the line-ups.

What's more, Bayern Munich have already informed Manchester City of their desire not to continue with Cancelo's loan deal for next season and that the player will be sent back on his way to England. City, taking into account that Pep Guardiola is fed up of Cancelo, will put him back on the market to find a way out.

The priority is to sell him but, bearing in mind that City paid 65 million euros, they know that they may have to loan him out again.

And it is in this scenario that FC Barcelona, who in recent seasons have specialised in signing players on the cheap, come into the picture.

There are two aspects that facilitate the arrival of Cancelo. The player is a name that has always been linked with FC Barcelona, especially when he was at Valencia. Then, Cancelo played several seasons before being transferred by Mateo Alemany himself, who took over the management of the club.

The other detail -- he is represented by Jorge Medes. Given the close relationship that the agent has with the president of FC Barcelona, the possibility of Cancelo ending up at Barcelona increases.

With Cancelo, Barça would have a 28-year-old wing-back, with experience, and who can help a lot in attack.
