The president says the club are waiting for the second financial lever to be pulled before they can bring players in

President Joan Laporta spoke on Wednesday at the presentation of Franck Kessie, along with sporting director Mateu Alemany. He was delighted to welcome in the midfielder and he also said that more signings have agreed to come but the deals cannot be done until the club activates their second financial lever to get back into La Liga’s FFP rules where you can spend what you bring in.

“We need to activate the second lever to be within the 1:1 fair play rule, and be able to satisfy the coach,” said Laporta. “We have various deals done so that the the moment comes, we can execute them.” He thinks the deal will be done towards the end of July.

On Frenkie de Jong, he added: “He’s a Barca player and we, if we have no need to, will not sell him. We don’t want to sell him, We know he has offers but in these moments we will not sell the player.”

On Ousmane Dembele, Laporta said: “We’re not setting any dates out because it’s a situation of uncertainty. The agent has replied but hasn’t reached the level we offered. We are willing to keep talking while it interests us if they don’t accept our proposal, it won’t be, and if they do, he will stay.”
