The president thinks a lot could still happen in the window

Barca president Joan Laporta did not shut the door on further signings in the market, although there must be more pay cuts and exits to make that happen.

“You all know the situation, we have to create space to bring more players in. If we free up four million, we can spend one and we’ll see what happens. You’re seeing the players who are counted on and who isn’t and the team is working. The market doesn’t shut until August 31 and many things can happen,” said Laporta.

Ronald Koeman has asked for a striker and a midfielder.

“Koeman knows players have to go out so that others can arrive,” said the president. “What’s important to me is that the squad is working well and the players we have are delivering.”

On the players left out of the squad, he added: “Umtiti is training well, Pjanic is behaving very professionally and Coutinho is coming back from injury. With Collado we had an offer and it couldn’t be. We’ll see what happens but we have injured players too like Aguero, Dembele and Aguero who are good and I’m sure they’ll deliver during the season.”
