The president was asked about the French and Norwegian strikers
Barcelona president Joan Laporta has spoken about the chances of signing Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe.
In an interview with El Periodico, he reiterated his firm decision not to drag the club into more debt.
“We will not inflate the market in the absurd way it was done in the past,” said Laporta.
“We will work to improve a team that’s progressing. The philosophy is to power up the team, let the team be the star. We want to make it stronger, more mature and more efficient. We will not make a team dependent on a player. That would be a mistake. The team is the star. The star will be the team.”
He confirmed any new signings would have to adhere to the salary structure in place and he said he would not speak about big names.
“I won’t talk of these players or others because it would do a disservice and make the prices grow.”
