The ex-president is worried about Messi's Camp Nou future

The former Barcelona president Joan Laporta is worried Josep Maria Bartomeu's running of the club and the possible consequences it could have on Lionel Messi's future.

Referring to the news that Messi could leave the club when his contract expires in June 2021, Laporta said that it's a "cause for concern."

He said: "When I say that we have to be vigilant, this is one of the issues I am talking about. Messi is a player with more to give, the best ever and we have to create the right conditions for him to continue, to feel happy and to give us several more years."

FEAR

Laporta, speaking at a hospital event in Barcelona, added that "I want Messi here beyond 2021, but I fear that some decisions from the board could lead to an irreversible decision."

He believes Bartomeu, the current president, is not helping. "The way I see it things are not on a good path with the way this current board is moving."
