"I have to find a way to improve Messi's current relationship with Barça, we'll see," added the president in an interview on YouTube

The 'Messi case' is heating up. The Argentine has not yet renewed his contract with Paris Saint-Germain - which expires on 30 June 2023 - and Barça are looking at ways to bring him back to Camp Nou.

Several players are speaking out about the player's future, the latest being his former team-mate and close friend 'Kun' Agüero. The most recent one to talk about it has been Joan Laporta.

Relevo has picked up some statements from the Blaugrana president on Joe Pimplano's YouTube channel 'The business and money behind sports' in which he refers to the situation of the flamboyant world champion.

"I have to find a way to improve Messi's current relationship with Barça. We'll see, but he knows that Barça's doors are open to him," Laporta said in an interview on 28 February, aired on 23 March.

The president of the blaugrana club has always been full of praise for Leo Messi and it wasn't any different on this occasion: "Leo knows that we have him in our heart, he is part of our crest. He is the best player in history and has been the most important player in Barça's history", a message he has reiterated since the Argentine's departure.

However, he has been extremely cautious: "I have to be very careful about what I say. Messi is currently a PSG player and I have to respect that".

He also referred to the controversial decision he took in the summer of 2021, not to renew the player's contract. The reason? The following: "The state of the club I inherited when I became president was not good and I had to make a decision that I am not happy with", added Laporta in the aforementioned interview.
