Joan Laporta dreams of bringing back Pep Guardiola

The president wants the Man City coach back on the bench at Camp Nou

| sport

Joan Laporta dreams of appointing Pep Guardiola as Barcelona’s coach for next season. The president is convinced that he’s the best option to replace Ronald Koeman and become the leader of the club again.

That is why he has asked Koeman for 10-15 days to find a replacement. Guardiola has a contract in vigour with Man City and is in the Champions League final on Saturday. He doesn’t want to hear anything about it before then. In England the rumours are growing that Pep could leave City.

Pep did renew his contract until 2023 last November but we don’t know what clauses there are in the deal to let him escape.

Laporta appointed Guardiola in 2008 and it worked to great effect as he won the treble and sent Barcelona on an incredible run of trophy wins. The relationship between them has been good since then.
