Jean Clair Todibo, loaned to Schalke 04
The French defender goes with a sale clause but Barca have a buyback fee
Jean-Clair Todibo’s loan to Schalke 04 is official. The French defender will play there until June 30, with a 25m +5m euro option to buy for the Germans, Barcelona said in a statement.
Schalke will pay 1.5m euros for the loan deal. Barcelona have a 50m euro + 10m in variables option to buy Todibo back, should the Germans go for him.
It was one of the disagreements the club had to solve before the deal was done. Barcelona’s buy-back means that Todibo can grow and play minutes in the Bundesliga.
Todibo has barely played in the last couple of years. He left Toulouse after being ousted from the team and then featured in just five official games for Barca, three of them this season.
