La Liga's chief spoke about the Catalans and their structural problems

The arrests of Josep Maria Bartomeu, Oscar Grau and Co were big news. Javier Tebas, La Liga’s president, spoke about the situation.

“I’m more worried by Barca’s institutional instability than their economic situation,” said the chief of the Spanish top flight.

“When there is a president I’m sure they’ll come out of this situation. Everyone has problems but Barca’s are more public.

“The 480 million euros debt does not worry me that Barca owe, it’s not the quantity but the capacity that Barca have to pay it.”

On Leo Messi’s potential departure, Tebas added: “In Spanish football we want the best players in the world. It could cause damage (if he goes) but we are prepared for that circumstance. Neymar and Cristiano left, and we’ve borne it well. Messi’s departure won’t affect us economically because the deals are sealed but it would be bad for the competition because we want the best in the world.

“It would be a pity if he left Barcelona, where he was ‘born’, this separation would not be good for Leo Messi.”
