Javier Mascherano signs his new FC Barcelona contract
The Argentine midfielder-cum-defender has a 100 million euro release fee clause and is now officially signed up until 2019
Javier Mascherano put pen to paper on his new Barcelona contract at midday on Monday. He was at the Camp Nou offices to finally seal the deal he agreed in July, ahead of the Man City Champions League clash.
His agent Walter Tarner was there, while also present were vice-president of the club Jordi Mestre, board member Javier Bordas and sporting director Robert Fernandez, along with president Josep Maria Bartomeu.
The offer gives Mascherano a new deal until June 30, 2019, with a release fee clause of 100 million euros. Mascherano had agreed to stay while with Argentina at the Copa America Centenario.
