April 13, 2019 was one of the most special days in the life of Riqui Puig. The Barcelona midfielder debuted in La Liga at age 19, wearing No 28. It was at El Alcoraz, where the Blaugrana drew 0-0 with Riqui playing 66 minutes.
He started the game, which saw Barcelona already practically crowned champions against the bottom of the table side. Ernesto Valverde turned to youth and reserves, with a team featuring many changes. It was also Jeison Murillo’s debut.
He showed some moments of class, including a nice assist for Ousmane Dembele, who could not finish, before being replaced by Jordi Alba.
His first official game for the club came earlier, in the Copa del Rey against Cultural Leonesa in December 2018.
Riqui has not had a lot of protagonism this season but believes he can triumph at the club. Now he wears the No 12 shirt and has played 497 minutes this season across 11 games, starting four of them.
