Is Barcelona's chance of selling Frenkie de Jong gone?

Frenkie de Jong is travelling to the USA with Barcelona. The Blaugrana had a deal sealed with Manchester United to move him but the Dutchman did not want to depart Camp Nou and for now he’s won the battle. From Barcelona’s side, they don’t think the case is closed and want the player to lower his salary or defer more of it towards the future. Pjanic is also an option for Xavi in midfield after being brought on the tour.

The De Jong case has not been able to be solved to Barcelona’s taste after he refused to go to Manchester United. The club told him that they needed to sell him and it was best for all parties if he agree to go. However, after thinking about it, De Jong disagreed. 

Man United are willing to pay him almost the same amount of his salary that was deferred at Barcelona already, making a huge effort for him, but the Dutchman is not sure about leaving regardless, and his agent is speaking with Chelsea but there is no official offer.

Pjanic would lower his salary if Xavi counts on him this season, or accept a departure if not - he has offers.
