Investment funds willing to help Barça sign Erling Haaland

The Norwegian striker is one of the hottest properties on the market next summer

One of Joan Laporta’s first actions as Barcelona president was to sit down with the agent and father of Erling Haaland, a forward who could mark the next decade in football. The meeting had a big media impact but then it transpired the two were meeting several clubs. Barcelona’s finances did not permit a serious move.

However Ferran Reverter, the club’s CEO, says that Barcelona can sign a ‘crack’ next summer and Haaland’s name has come up again. The Catalans have received offers from investment funds who are willing to finance the signing of the Norwegian.

The question is if the club can sign him within the FFP limits. His price is 75m euros, there is a clause in his deal for it, but the salary may be huge. It is a high risk deal and Barcelona have not got their big signings right in recent years.

Haaland is the killer No 9 the club need though it seems and along with Pedri, Fati and Gavi could form the core of the next big Barça side.

Haaland will have his choice of club and at Barça he would be the undisputed star unlike at PSG or Madrid, if they sign Mbappe.

It is very hard but there will be economic formulas to manage it.
