The Italians need to get a Champions League spot to be able to tempt the Croatian

The end of the Serie A season could be decisive for Ivan Rakitic's future. Inter Milan are playing for one of the final two Champions League spots with Atalanta, Milan and Roma. It's been a big week for Inter, who beat Chievo 2-0 in a key game on Monday. They sit third with one point more than Atalanta and four more than Milan and Roma with just two games to go.

Therefore, Inter will return to the Champions League if they win one of their two remaining games. They face a Napoli side already guaranteed second spot and Empoli at home. They may not even have to win one if their rivals slip up.

Offer worth 50 million

Qualifying for the Champions League means Inter's Chinese owners, Suning, will be able to invest in the team. The first objective is to bring Antonio Conte in as coach and arm him with an improved squad. Rakitic is a name on the table and Inter would offer 50 million euros.

Rakitic has a contract at Barcelona until 2021 and the club don't want to renew his deal. Everything suggests the club would be open to selling him.

For his part, the player was close to PSG last summer -- before Ernesto Valverde intervened -- and Inter's proposal could be an attractive onen from a financial and sporting point of view.
