There was a meeting with Barcelona but no deal was closed

Barça are in no rush to sell and will hold out for the best deal

Inter Milan sporting director Piero Ausilio has returned to Italy after failing to strike a deal with Barcelona to sign Rafinha.

Auslio met with Barça's general manager Pep Segura but there was no agreement and he headed home without the Brazilian midfielder.

Inter and Barça have agreed on a loan until the end of the season but they can't agree on the option to buy.

The Catalan club want it to be an obligatory option for around 40 million euros, while Inter want it to be optional and for around 35 million euros.

Both sides are going to take their time to think about the deal and hope that an agreement can be met before January is out.

Inter can't accept the obligatory option because of UEFA's Financial Fair Play ruled impede them from doing so for now.

Rafinha has an agreement with Inter, but is now waiting for Barca's directors to broker a deal. He has a contract with the club until 2020 and has just returned from a nine month injury layoff.
