In demand defender De Ligt returned to training with Ajax on Monday

Mathijs de Ligt is stil lan Ajax player. Despite recent reports in Italy suggesting he's close to signing for Juventus, De Ligt was at Ajax training on Monday as he began preseason. In contrast to other players, De Ligt has not snubbed his commitments with his current club and joined up with the rest of his teammates in Amsterdam. 

De Ligt, who Barcelona also want, turned up as normal, with a smile on his face. Aware of the cameras and the fact he is the centre of attention, he trained as normal as he waits for his future to be resolved. He has already admitted that if the right offer doesn't come in, he would be happy to stay at Ajax. An Ajax side that have already sold midfielder Frenkie de Jong to Barça.  

So, despite De Ligt's agent, Mino Raiola, pushing for the deal to be completed with Juve, the centre-back remains in the Netherlands, removed from the negotiations. The Italian club's first offer of around 50 million euros is said to have been turned down by Ajax.
