Laporta has been very optimistic about the possibility of the Argentine star finishing his career at Barça, saying "We owe him a moral debt."

The second day of the FC Barcelona expedition in New York, the last stop of the U.S. tour, has been very busy. The club have stepped up participation in promotional events at the Big Apple, with Spotify, Nike and UNHCR. After dinner at Rockefeller Center, Joan Laporta reviewed the club's current affairs and activities.

He touched on many topics, but what was most impressionable was Laporta's resolve to bring back Argentina's star and Barça's longtime hero, Leo Messi. "Leo's time did not end the way we all wanted it to. It ended as a consequence of financial issues. We owe him a moral debt in this regard. We would like him to end his career in the Barça shirt," said the president of Barcelona.

"This is an aspiration. There is nothing discussed. I feel partly responsible for the ending. I think it is a provisional end and I believe we will make this aspiration a reality," he said, very optimistic. Laporta has once again taken a public and very forceful position on the desired return of the club legend to the Camp Nou and has been both emphatic and categorical in his statement of intent.
