Mina is currently on holiday and wants to stay at Barcelona but Valverde doesn't want to have five centre backs in the squad next season

Barcelona's Colombian defender, Yerry Mina, could see his future at the club impacted by the imminent arrival of Clement Lenglet from Sevilla. The signing of Lenglet allows Ernesto Valverde to have the four defenders he's always wanted. We're talking about Gerard Pique and Samuel Umtiti, who will be the starters, and Lenglet and Thomas Vermaelen, who will be the alternatives. So what happens to Mina?

With Paulinho leaving Barcelona, there's no bureaucratic reason that he can't stay at Barcelona. There's a non-EU spot available and it could be used for the Colombian defender.

However, the issue might come on the sporting side of things. Valverde wants a smaller squad, 21 players, and he's already got too many on the books. For that reason, with four centre backs to call upon, Mina could be left out and loaned to another club. At the moment there is a lot of interest in the defender following his fine performances at the World Cup in Russia. The player wants to remain at Barcelona though.

We'll need to wait until he returns from his holidays to find out where Yerry Mina's ends up this summer.
