Ousmane Dembele is a free spirit. That’s who he was when Barca signed him and he still remains that way. But he’s improving. He set that as an objective, he wants to be one of the team, on and off the pitch. His connection with team-mates has grown greatly in recent months and in the dressing room they have received that with open arms.
From his first day, Dembele has got involved in various bits of trouble. Living with his friends has not helped. Nor did the injuries, he didn’t have consistency. He felt isolated, speaking to only a few in the dressing room, the younger ones. That is no longer the case.
Dembele has changed and we saw it after the game against Granada. He went team-mate to team-mate, overjoyed, lifting them up in the air in a hug. he did it to Messi, Araujo, and others. He looks a different player now, which is great news for Barca.
Dembele’s change in attitude has made him vital to Koeman’s team. He makes better decisions on the pitch too, lifts his head up more. He’s one of the lads.
