Barcelona's most expensive summer signing is the least used by Ernesto Valverde. Malcom Filipe Silva arrived at Barcelona for 41 million from Bordeaux, but has played for just 25 minutes so far in 11 games. He has not even entered the last three squad lists.
At 21 Malcom is patient and calm about his ostracism from Barcelona, knowing his arrival at the club was not easy - with Roma almost signing him - so he has taken a quiet posture, working hard, ready for opportunities when they come.
Unlike Arturo Vidal, who has kicked right off about his lack of playing time, Malcom is discreet. He is still confident in himself and his recent call up by Brazil has reinforced that.
Malcom was brought in by the sporting directors rather than being a Valverde choice, which has hurt the player a little in that he has appeared just wcie. Six minutes at Valladolid and 19 at Leganes.
For Malcom the example to follow is Arthur, also called up by the national team. He started agaisnt Sevilla and then disappeared, before being resuscitated in recent games and now looks almost undroppable.
Malcom considers his ostracism a sporting question, assuming the other forwards are performing better and rules out any type of confrontation with Valverde about it.
