The tactics the Blaugrana are using to try and bring in the Dortmund striker
The battle for Erling Haaland started months ago, and will continue for at least a few more weeks/ Real Madrid are leading the charge but PSG, Man City and Barca will all have something to say.
Haaland is the big objective for Joan Laporta and they are willing to pay his 75m euros release clause and the succulent commissions that agent Raiola and Haaland’s father will want. The Norwegian could be a player who goes on to make the next decade.
Barcelona want to convince him that he will be the leader of the new project and be surrounded by talented team-mates like Pedri, Gavi, Ansu Fati, Ferran Torres and Nico, plus other arrivals. He wouldn’t be the leader at other clubs - eg if Madrid signed Mbappe.
Barcelona can also tell him he will be the digital and marketing leader too. Barcelona are the biggest club in the world in that regard, in terms of follower numbers and interactions.
Haaland, a player concerned with his image and who uses social media too, may find this an interesting proposal.
Barcelona will also show him the cracks who have arrived at the club and gone on to win the Ballon d’Or. Messi, seven times obviously, but also other great players have made their names like Ronaldinho, Ronaldo, Rivaldo and Stoichkov.
Barcelona are not in great economic shape but can offer him 20 million euros a season, for five seasons, making him the best paid player. There will also be important variables in the deal on offer.
Barcelona will make Haaland see they are turning things around and soon they will be back to financial health, able to offer bigger salaries and create a squad that can aspire to win it all.
