"Haaland signing for Barça is propaganda"
A claim by a man who is very close to the Haaland family
Jan Aage Fjörtoft, the former player and friend/spokesperson for the Haaland family has hinted that Erling Haaland is not that close to joining Barcelona.
He previously hit out at the reports that Madrid wanted him to come in 2023.
“Everything is between two clubs and I think they are Real Madrid and Manchester City,” said Fjortoft. “The Barça stuff I think is more propaganda. Maybe it happens in the end but in these moments it’s between two countries and two clubs.”
Xavi was in Munich to speak to Haaland this week but Fjortoft told ESPN: “I have the feeling that Real Madrid are ahead of Barcelona.”
Pep Guardiola had said that Manchester City need a No 9 and the ex-player added: “There’s a gap and I think he’d fit in very well there.”
On Twitter he added: “Don’t underestimate the detailed job Team Haaland now are doing to find out where Erling Haaland is playing next season.
If he leaves Dortmund it’s more down to facts than emotions.
Spain and England most likely with the usual suspects in front. Don’t buy some clubs’ spin though.”
