The Dutch forward knows he is no longer necessary at FC Barcelona

Memphis Depay is waiting to solve his future at Barcelona and could have another possible destination in the Premier League according to the Guardian. They say that Chelsea are interested in him as an option to reinforce if striker Timo Werner leaves for RB Leipzig. Thomas Tuchel’s side are looking for alternatives in attack, after striker Romelu Lukaku left, leaving them without any pure forwards. The exception is Armando Broja, who is the one player that could occupy that role, although his future is up in the air too. The coach likes him but clubs like West Ham and Everton are pressing to sign the Armenian. Another option the Blues are looking forward to looking at is Dutch striker Benjamin Sesko, at RB Leipzig, who has also received interest from Manchester United.

Memphis is waiting to reach a deal with Barcelona to let him go for free so he can get a higher new contract at his next club. The forward has been linked to Borussia Dortmund, Juventus, United, and Arsenal, but no firm offers for him have arrived yet at Barcelona. The Chelsea option is a new route which is open to the player, who could return to the Premier League five years after leaving Manchester United. At Old Trafford Depay had an interesting start but it soon evaporated and he left for Olympique Lyon in 2017.

Chelsea are also interested in Frenkie de Jong, so it could be a double move that leads two players to swap Camp Nou for Stamford Bridge. On the other hand Chelsea defenders Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso are trying to negotiate signing for Barcelona. Tuchel wants to keep adding to his squad ahead of the start of the season against Everton on Saturday, August 6 after signing Raheem Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly.
