Griezmann's future could be conditioned by Cristiano's departure

If Cristiano leaves Juventus, the Turin club could be tempted by a move for the French international

The future of Cristiano Ronaldo could be decisive in the Antoine Griezmann saga. According to SPORT sources, Barça officials think that Juventus might be tempted by a loan-with-option move for the French forward if Cristiano ends up leaving the Turin-based club.

With a contract that expires in 2022, Cristiano Ronaldo's situation is being closely monitored by PSG. The French club, conscious that Mbappé may leave in the next 12 months, is not ruling out a move for the Portuguese talisman. By getting Cristiano's wages off its books, Juve could be in a position to sign new players for its attacking band. This is where Griezmann may come into play, whose future at Camp Nou remains clouded in uncertainty.

Barça would be happy to loan Griezmann to another club this season. The club would not make any money (or very little) during this transfer window, but it would amortise another year of Griezmann's contract, which is due to expire on 30 June 2023. Next summer, when clubs are in a more favourable financial situation, they could then look to sell the player on a permanent deal. If Griezmann performs well in a loan spell, this could be an appealing option for the Catalan club.

Griezmann is currently training as normal, and is due to get minutes against Girona following his participation in this summer's European Championship.
