Palmeiras have reached an agreement with FC Barcelona over the transfer of midfielder Matheus Fernandes, according to 'GloboEsporte'.

The reports claim that Barcelona will pay 11 million euros for Fernandes (around 50 million reales). Of that fee, seven million is up front and the other four million is in appearance-based add ons.

Brazilian side Palmeiras will have to share the money with Botafogo, Fernandes's former club, as they only bought 75 percent of his rights. Botafogo still own 25 percent.

Fernandes, 21, will remain with Palmeiras on their preseason training camp in Orlando (United States9 until the deal is closed, but he will not play any games.

Barça have been tracking the midfielder for a while. Their first offer of six million euros was rejected but they have now struck an agreement to land their man.

Fernandes joined Palmeiras in December 2018 from Botafogo. Last season, he only played 12 games for the club, six from the start, scoring one goal.
