Gerard Pique meets with Joan Laporta and Co
The defender may take another pay cut to help the club register new signings
There was a surprise meeting between Barcelona and Gerard Pique. Per Jijantes, Laporta, Alemany, Yuste and Pique’s agent Arturo Canales, met in a restaurant in Barcelona to ask him to take another pay cut to help register the new signings.
The board are anticipating if La Liga don’t accept their numbers after the activation of the latest levers and they might need to ask the squad to take another hit.
Pique’s sporting future, the role he could have in the squad under Xavi, the club’s financial situation may well have been discussed at the dinner.
Per Jijantes, Pique has said that he will not leave the club. “Of course I will stay,” he told some of Gerard Romero’s colleagues.
Sergio Busquets has also been seen with his agent in the club’s offices.
