The Barça defender was at Manchester United for three seasons before deciding to return to Spain

FC Barcelona being paired with Manchester United holds special significance for Gerard Pique. The centre back will return to Manchester for the first time since re-joining Barça. Pique spent three seasons in England (2004/05, 2005/06 and 2007/08) and a further season on loan to Real Zaragoza (2006/07) before his move to Barça in 2008.

Pique admits that United are a special club to him as they aided his development as a professional and the relationship he had with then-coach Sir Alex Ferguson. The defender has come up against his former side on the European stage in the 2010/11 Champions League final at Wembley.

Here is Pique's tweet following the draw:

The last time Manchester United and FC Barcelona faced each other at Old Trafford came back in 2008 when Pique was on United's books, although he didn't play. Paul Scholes scored the only goal which saw Barça eliminated at the semi-final stage and the English club would then go on to lift the trophy.
