Gerard Pique still 'off' as he trains ahead of Athletic clash
The Catalan defender is not a key player any more and it's taking a toll
Gerard Pique has been the focus of attention after the whistles he received when he came on against Villarreal. Xavi defended him but in training he looked resigned to his situation.
Pique did the exercises without the joy he usually offers. Being a constant sub is clearly wearing him down.
While Busquets, Eric and Pedri were among the first to come out, Pique looked discouraged during the session. His professionalism and commitment can’t be questioned but it’s tough for a player of his calibre to no longer be a protagonist on the pitch.
Even though Araujo and Christensen are injured, with Kounde and Eric Garcia available it’s not likely he will be used.
