Pique did not show up at the Catalan Football Federation awards

Catalan coach Gerard Lopez spoke about Gerard Pique's absence at the Catalan Football Federation awards on Tuesday. The Barcelona man won the Player of the Year award ahead of Marc Roca (Espanyol) and Marc Bartra (Betis), but did not turn up - despite confirming he would.

Gerard didn't hide his surprise, admitting "I just found out from you (the media)." Later he said: "I'm sure Pique is thrilled to win the prize. His commitment to the Federation has always been maximum. That he's not here doesn't change anything."

He added: "I'm sure it's something that came up at the last minute or something personal. We all have an agenda and calendar to stick to, if he couldn't come there's a reason for it."
