Gerard Deulofeu: The Chapecoense are players are heroes
The winger stood out with a goal and two assists in the game
He's now looking forward to the Super Cup against Real Madrid
Gerard Deulofeu starred in Barcelona's 5-0 Joan Gamper Trophy win against Chapecoense. Playing just the first 45 minutes, he managed to score one goal and set up two more.
After the game, though, he wanted to pay tribute to Chapecoense: “To be honest it was an incredible experience playing here against Chapecoense.
"They deserve to be here and to have this wonderful day. They are heroes. I think about what happened to them and it brings me to tears. All our support is for them.”
Three of the survivors from last November's plane crash were at Camp Nou, in the form of Alan Ruschel, Neto and Jackson Follmann.
Alan played, captaining the Brazilian side, while Neto and Follmann took an honorary kick off before the game began at Camp Nou on Monday.
On his own performance, Deulofeu added: “I am really happy. It is always a pleasure to play here and even more for me because it’s been a long time since I played at Camp Nou.
"There’s an important game on Sunday [against Real Madrid] and this game was a test for that. I’m happy because it was the first time playing with some of my new teammates, but the most important is the title we’re playing for [the Super Cup] at the weekend and we will work hard in training to bring it home.”
