The youngster is finally at an an agreement with Barcelona

The renewal is on track. After various meetings, comings and goings, pushes and pulls, Gavi will sign a new contract with Barcelona. The agreement between both sides is there and he will stay at the club until 2026.

However it will not be done until he returns to training on July 11, given he has an extended break after playing in the Nations League with Spain. First Kessie and Christensen will be presented this week.

The wage was one of the biggest issues, with the club considering him a future star but Gavi and his agent see him as already a key man at 17. He has become essential for Xavi and Luis Enrique.

Gavi will be on a slightly smaller deal than Ronald Araujo but Barcelona are committed to revising his salary in the near future. He will have a 1 billion euro release clause, like the Uruguayan, Fati, Ferran Torres and Pedri.

His number is not certain, as he was No 30 last season. The 11 and 17 are free, is the No 8 but Pedri will have that. Numbers like 6, 12, 16, 16, 22 and 23 should soon be free too.
