Gavi and Ronald Araujo are waiting for a 'gesture' from Barcelona

The Barça duo feel they have outgrown their current terms and hope to renew

Barcelona are working hard on having the most successful January transfer window possible. For that to happen, the club have clear objectives in terms of potential signings but first have to work hard to reduce their wage bill with player exits.

Meanwhile, though, there are players that have taken on increased importance within the first team that are waiting their turn to sign contract renewals fitting of their new status at the club. And for some, patience is beginning to rule out.

That's the situation with Gavi and Ronald Araujo, two players tipped to be the leaders of the club in the future and two players Barça are obliged to renew to avoid losing them.

There have not been significant steps on either front yet, but the players are waiting for a gesture from the club and, above all, to see a reward for their performances.

Gavi and Araujo both want to stay but feel the 'there's no money' line no longer works after the signing of Ferran Torres for €55 million this month. It's clear Ferran is a strategic signing, but it's one that will mark renewal talks.

Neither Gavi nor Araujo will undersell themselves. The moment of truth will arrive in February.
