Gaspart: Bartomeu has no choice but to continue
The former president backed the current incumbent to stay in his role
Joan Gaspart, Barcelona's president between 2000-03 showed his sadness at the 8-2 humiliation by Bayern Munich but also said that the current president, Josep Maria Bartomeu, should stay at the helm.
"Bartomeu has to show that he loves Barcelona like he who loves it the most and take on this situation as president. He should continue because he has no other option," said Gaspart.
"It's like that night in Seville, when everyone said that Nunez had to resign and then he gave us a lot of success."
In terms of Pique's complaints, Gaspart does not agree. "Regarding what Pique said, I'm not in agreement. Pique is a Barca legend and has years ahead of him. There's a strong football youth base and veterans with immense quality, like Leo Messi, and that can give Barca a lot of success. We'll turn the page and not live the heat of that night because we have to bear the torture."
