Fulham deny they have made a bid for Barça defender Gerard Pique

Despite the speculation surrounding the future of a lot of players at Barça, Fulham claim they haven't bid for Pique

The aftermath of Barcelona's 8-2 crushing at the hands of Bayern Munich has left almost everything up in the air at the club. This includes the futures of players, staff members and has already claimed the jobs of Quique Setien and Eric Abidal.

One of the most surprising stories over the past few days has been talk of an offer for Gerard Pique. He faced the cameras after the Bayern defeat and said "important structural changes" were needed and even suggested he would step aside if the club wanted to play younger players.

The surprise wasn't that there's interest in Pique, he's been one of the best central defenders over the past 10 years, but rather that the bid had come from Premier League new boys Fulham.

The newspaper 'Libero' claimed Fulham had reached out to Pique's agent in the hope of striking a deal. Their owner, Shahid Khan, is a multimillionaire and certainly possesses the funds to complete a move for someone like Pique.

However, reports that Fulham had offered the defender a two-year, €5.5m per season deal have been shot down by the owner's son, Tony Khan. He claims the story is false.

But that denial was in reference to the contract offer, not that there isn't interest in Pique or that they haven't made a bid. It remains to be seen what Koeman feels is the best course of action when it comes to the man who Barça have built their defence around. Would it be better for everyone to have a clean slate or would he rather have Pique in his corner?
