Frenkie de Jong's official medical statement, set to miss Clasico

Frenkie de Jong had to withdraw from Barça's 3-2 win over Celta in the first half due to injury. It was in the 36th minute, after noticing problems in his ankle after an action in the game with Jonathan Bamba. Frenkie was replaced by Gavi.

After the first explorations, as SPORT has advanced, De Jong is set to be out until November.

Once the first medical tests were carried out, FC Barcelona issued a medical statement confirming the Dutchman's injury to "the distal tibioperoneal syndesmosis of the right ankle".

Statement: "Tests carried out tonight have shown that the first team player De Jong suffers an injury to the distal tibioperoneal syndesmosis of the right ankle. He is out of the squad and his progress will determine his availability".

According to this recovery schedule, the midfielder would not return until the national team break, which could mean that he would not be available for the clásico on 28 October against Real Madrid at the Montjuïc stadium at 16:15 in the afternoon. The match will be the eleventh matchday of the league.

Barça, as usual in their medical statements, do not specify how long the player will be out of action.
