The defender was wanted by the Catalans before he joined Juventus
Frenkie De Jong is working on bringing his friend Matthijs de Ligt to Barcelona one day. The duo were part of the great Ajax team that reached the semi-finals of the Champions League.
According to Calciomercato, conversations between Barca and Juve have been clear - the Catalan team shut the door to De Jong leaving and the Italians did the same with De Ligt. However the newspaper says Frenkie "had planned for a while an operation to try and convince his friend and former team-mate De Ligt to join him at Barca."
De Jong has played 37 games with Barca, scoring twice and adding four assists. He has been important this season. De Ligt, on the other hand, found it hard to get into the Juve team until Chiellini's injury.
