Frenkie de Jong sent off for first time in his career

The Dutch midfielder was sent off for two booking at the RCDE Stadium

Frenkie de Jong will have bad memories of his first-ever Catalan derby, Barcelona's final game of the first half of the 2019-20 season.

The Dutch midfielder was unable to finish the game at the RCDE Stadium after being sent off for the first-ever time in his professional career.

De Jong was shown a red card in the second half after picking up two bookings in 10 minutes. He saw yellow in the 66th minute for pishing Mono Vargas and was cautioned again in the 75th minute for pulling down Calleri after losing the ball.

He had already been booked this season, earning a yellow against Osasuna, but at Ajax last season he was only booked twice in the Eredivisie and twice more in the Champions League.

It's the fourth time a Barcelona player's been sent off this season. Clement Lenglet received his marching orders against Getafe and Ronald Araujo and Ousmane Dembele both saw red against Sevilla.
